Anvil is a free collection of online tools. This policy explains what information is processed when you use it.
Information we process
- Tool inputs. When you run a tool, the value you enter is sent to our server to produce the result and is not stored as a document. For signed-in users, a one-way hash of recent tool usage is recorded so the site can show recent activity.
- Account details. If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a password hash. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
- Messages. If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address, and message so we can reply.
- Technical data. Like most web servers, we process your IP address, user agent, and request details to serve pages and protect the site.
Tools that run in your browser
Some tools — including the QR decoder, the EXIF remover, the password generator, and the password strength checker — run entirely in your browser. Their inputs never leave your device.
Cookies and local storage
We use a session cookie for sign-in and security checks, and your browser’s local storage to remember recently used tools. We do not use advertising cookies unless advertising is enabled by the site operator.
Third-party services
Some tools send the value you provide to an external service to produce a result. For example, the page speed checker uses Google PageSpeed Insights, the Nobel Prize browser uses the official Nobel Prize API, the IFSC tool uses the Razorpay IFSC service, the cache checker uses the Internet Archive, and the screenshot tool uses thum.io. Only the data needed for that lookup is sent.
Your choices
You can use almost every tool without an account. If you have an account, you may request access to or deletion of your data through the contact page. You can clear locally stored preferences in your browser settings.
Security and retention
We take reasonable measures to protect the site, but no service can guarantee absolute security. We keep account and contact data only as long as needed to operate the site.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
